2017 Ford F-250 Diesel – Engine, Transmission and Drivetrain

This engine won many applauds from pundits all over the world and had gained as much fame as the Dodge 7.7-liter Hellcat. But, this 6.7-liter Power-Stroke Diesel engine is meant to give one and only thing – torque. And this engine has 925 lb-ft of torque to prove the point.

Other than the 440 hp max output, it’s the pound-feet figures which give this 2017 Ford F-250 Diesel a lead even over the likes of RAM and Chevrolet. A 4-valve compacted graphite iron engine block makes sure that this engine is lighter but more powerful. The lumps of extra torque all come down to the basic design innovation of this engine.

Placing the turbocharger between the cylinder heads and the exhaust manifold close to the turbocharger – Ford has made the maximum possible air displacement thus power. It is the juxtaposition of the turbo, cylinder and cam heads and exhaust manifold that does the job or rather the torque.

  • Payload – 3,180 lbs.
  • Trailering – 14,000 lbs. [Plus Expected.]

A TorqShift 6-Speed Automatic with manual shift ability or SelectShift comes with this mammoth engine. This transmission is among the newest additions to Ford’s lineup. Along with this, buyers can choose from either 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrains. But Single-Rear-Wheel drive is the only option available for this 2017 Ford F-250 Diesel.
