Nissan Frontier is an excellent mid-size pickup truck from Nissan. The Japanese automaker is set to release a new model for the 2017 model year. However, having been redesigned for the 2016 model year, the 2017 Nissan Frontier will feature only visual updates. The redesign of the Frontier pickup truck follows after Nissan updated its big brother the Nissan Titan.
2017 Nissan Frontier – Exterior and Interior Design
As it is, the current exterior profile of the Nissan Frontier is on point and the automaker will only make a few visual improvements for the 2017 model year. The vehicle weighs slightly less than the outgoing model courtesy of the automaker’s use of lightweight materials. The truck is based on the F-Alpha platform which allows for a large cargo space and excellent traction. At the front, the vehicle still comes with the small, U-shaped radiator grill. The grille is flanked by LED headlights and the new LED DRLs. At the back, the vehicle features a redesigned tailgate and modified tail lights. Other features include a moon-roof which is offered on the Crew Cab SV trim level. The model is offered in two body styles 4-door Crew Cab and King Cab with an extended cargo cab. Three new exterior colors have been added, they are; Forged Copper, Gun Metallic and Magnetic Black. Depending on the trim level, the 2017 Nissan Frontier truck will ride on either two-tone 16-, 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior of the 2017 Nissan Frontier will be very spacious and comfortable. The cabin accommodates fives passengers and all of them get to enjoy ample head and leg room. The cabin is upholstered with leather with a contrast gray stitching. The dashboard and upper corners of the seats feature a carbon trim. The vehicle is also offered with carpeted red floor mats. The center console has additional displays for coolant temperature, oil pressure and boost pressure. Technology wise, the cabin features Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, satellite radio, cruise control, a 6.0-inch touch-screen display which shows its navigation system and a premium sound system. The vehicle also features bolstered airbags, tire pressure monitoring, and hill start assist as well as traction and stability control systems.
2017 Nissan Frontier – Engine Specs
The 2017 nissan frontier will continue using the Cummins engine. The engine provides a reliable mix of power and fuel efficiency. The model will be powered by a 2.8 L, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. The engine is capable of producing 200 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be paired to a8-speed automatic transmission which will send power to either the front wheels or all wheels. 2017 Nissan Frontier – Price, Release Date and Competition
Toyota has not made official the pricing details of the 2017 Nissan Frontier as of this writing. However, we don’t expect the truck to vary much from the 2016 model prices. Currently, the 2016 Nissan Frontier base King Cab has a starting price of $ 18,975 while the King Cab Pro goes for $ 32, 765. On the other hand, the base Frontier Crew Cab sells at $ 23, 685 and $ 36,295 for the top-of-the-line SL Crew Cab. Competitors of the 2017 Nissan Frontier will be the likes of the Chevrolet Colorado, Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma among others.
