Who said mid-sized heavy duty pickup trucks couldn’t be adventurous and thrilling? Dodge is here to break this stereotype with the new Dodge Ram Rebel TRX Concept. This pickup truck has been designed to excel in off-road performance by using a flexible chassis, returned suspension and powerful V8 engines.
This Ram Rebel TRX concept was unveiled to the public at the Texas State Fair. Although this pickup truck is still in its concept stage, most of its details have been sourced out.
Dodge Ram Rebel TRX Concept – Body Styles Changes and other Options
This concept model has a stylish exterior profile as its entire body features a chiseled look. Although this TRX Concept shares the DNA of RAM 1500, it has received several mods that project a new distinctive look.
Up front, RAM’s iconic signature grille has received extra chrome accents and is fully blackened. Small air vents now surround the headlights. The two hooks, LED daytime running light and RAM badge share the color highlights of the body.
Its hood is entirely different from standard RAM 1500 as it has been aggressively sculpted. Dodge has also revised its aerodynamically shaped fender flares and skid plate.
The interior cabin of this Dodge Ram Rebel TRX Concept features specially designed suede seats that have cloth upholstery. Leather upholstery may come as an option. Also, a 6 point racing harness is presented in every seat for safety.
Chassis and Suspension:
As this TRX Concept is based on Ram 1500, it uses the standard (stock) frame. What’s new is the custom control arms at the front and internal bypass shocks at each corner which uses new springs. With these changes, the suspension travel is full 13 inches.
Moreover, this increased suspension travel also opens up space for a massive 37 × 13.5-inch tires which improve off-road capabilities. As to the brakes, 6 piston calipers have been added on both front and rear discs.
Dodge Ram Rebel TRX Concept – Modification under the Hood
There are 2 possible engines for this Dodge Ram Rebel TRX Concept. One is a 3.5-liter V6 mill that can produce 510 lb-ft of torque and 450 hp of power. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission system.
Another option is the powerful 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine which churns out a torque of 434 lb-ft and 575 hp. Although this engine can produce more than 700 hp, it has received some new calibrations for making improvements on off-road performance.
But the other hand, the re-tuned HEMI V8 can make this pickup truck run at 100 mph even in off-road mode. Buyers will even get the option to choose between two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive in this model.
Several driving modes like Baja, Off-road, Wet/Snow and Normal are presented as this Ram Rebel TRX Concept borrows an updated version of Ram’s 4×4 Performance Control System.
